In 1977, Patrick Steptoe and Robert Edwards successfully carried out a pioneering conception which resulted in the birth of the world’s first baby to be conceived by IVF, Louise Brown on 25 July 1978, in Oldham General Hospital, Greater Manchester, UK. I was only 30 odd miles in Liverpool, about 30 years ago when this first epoch breaking IVF technique was World News from Oldham General Hospital.

It’s a journey taken over 30 years. When this pioneering work was first developed in 1978 I had a little dream and wish that I could be part of similar success in Mysore and this would be of immense help to the unfortunate couples. IVF facility available mostly in big cities is now available in Mysore too.

I started the 1st full-fledged IVF institute of Mysore in 2007 ‘Chitra’s IVF and Fertility Centre’, a unit of Chitra’s Hospital. Namma Mysore’s 1st IVF baby was born on October 20th 2008 at my “Chitra’s IVF and Fertility Center”. History was made again on 18th February 2011 when Mysore’s 50th IVF baby was born. I am sure Mysore will remember and love this baby in future years just as the world remembers the birth the world’s 1st IVF baby in England We have many success stories and even now many expectant mothers are progressing well

The milestone achieved by the dedicated team of Dr Chitralekha, Dr Priya Mahesh, Dr Vijakumar, Dr Ravindranath, Dr Najjia, Dr Sangeetha Mahesh, Dr Mahesh Kumar and other members of our team. This achievement has been possible due to the combined team efforts, dedication, devotion with the aim of bring smiles on the faces of couples longing, eagerly waiting for the arrival of their precious babies.
